Walkable Westchester talk
Jane and Jeff Daniels, the authors of Walkable Westchester: A Walking Guide to Westchester County, New York, will share their extensive knowledge of the walking and hiking opportunities available in the area on Thursday, March 4 at 7PM at the Irvington Public Library. This presentation will include color photos not in their book.
According to the Daniels, there are over 180 parks and more than 600 miles of trails in Westchester. The Daniels have used icons in their book to organize the trails according to several criteria, including dogs welcomed, suitable for cross country skiing, for bicycle riding, or handicapped accessibilty. Included are detailed maps and tips on parking availability and how to reach many of the trails using public transportation. There will be copies of the book available for purchase after the program. Proceeds from the books sold will go entirely to the New York/New Jersey Trails Conference to maintain and expand trails.
The Irvington Public Library is located across from the Irvington train station at 12 South Astor Street, Irvington. The program is free, but registration is requested to reserve a seat.
The library is handicapped accessible.
